FAQ’s ABOUT CHILD COUNSELING

What Is A Child Therapist?

Child therapists, or child psychologists, specialize in treating children with behavioral, emotional, or mental disorders.

These highly trained professionals may work in a clinical setting in private practices, as part of a medical team, or in a school environment.

Many child therapists are trained play therapists. Play therapy allows trained mental health practitioners who specialize in play therapy, to assess and understand children’s play.

Does Insurance Cover Child Therapy?

Yes, insurance often covers child counseling. Silver River Counseling, however, is a private pay practice which means we are considered out-of-network, and payment is given at the time of service.

NOTE: We do not bill insurance. It is up to the client to seek potential reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Can Therapy with Children Be Online?

Absolutely! While it’s ideal to have counseling sessions with children in-person, we can accommodate telehealth sessions with kiddos.
